Yoga
Kripalu Yoga is currently being taught by Heather Scanlon at Health
Pathways, Saturday mornings at 9am. This course has been carefully
designed for you to receive the maximum benefits of yoga. Typically,
our classes begin with warm-up movements and breath awareness to
prepare you for yoga postures. The heart of each class ends with a deep
relaxation and meditation. Classes range from gentle to vigorous. The
following are some suggestions you may find useful in your yoga
practice.
- Please bring a yoga mat and towel to class (there will be mats provided for rent or purchase if you need.)
- Please
let me know if you are under doctor's care for any specific health
conditions for example: high/low blood pressure, back/neck problems,
recent surgery or injury, or if you are pregnant, etc. I will be able
to give you specific guidance and support to help you with your
limitations.
- Regular attendance is highly recommended. Please try to arrive a few minutes early to relax and settle in before class begins.
- When
you enter yoga class leave your worldly cares and troubles at the door.
This is a time for you to experience peace and relaxation. You may want
to lie down quietly on your mat and allow yourself space simply to be
present for yourself. The next hour and a half is for you.
- It
is best to perform postures on an empty stomach. Wait at least one to
two hours after eating a full meal before practicing. You may like a
glass of juice or piece of fruit up to an hour before.
The benefits of Yoga available to you are many, regardless of your age,
flexibility or degree of proficiency in the exercises. I will be happy
to offer assistance to you in whatever way possible and I look forward
to working with you soon.
